AG Chinese Training and Together in Prayer——Leadership Succession and Intergenerational Ministry
On October 16, 2025, Assemblies of God Singapore gathered our Chinese pastors and leaders at Grace Chapel for a luncheon fellowship on leadership succession and intergenerational ministry.
The event began with table fellowship over lunch, followed by a time of praise and worship to center hearts on God’s presence.

Rev Steven Ong (Immanuel AG) and Ps Charmaine Loh (Eternal Life AG) stressed that calling is a life responding to God’s heart; vision flows from prayer and worship and is carried by the whole church. They addressed three pain points: (1) the leadership gap—practice intentional discovery, early discipleship, and mentoring with shared responsibilities; (2) entrenched mindsets—let God reshape the vessel through humility, turning differences into mutual edification; (3) miscommunication—pursue equal-footing conversations, clarify meaning, break hierarchical patterns, and create safe spaces for honest questions.

Key pathways included being intentional across ages, inspiring the “why” beyond mere instructions, fostering mutual learning so younger leaders stand on predecessors’ shoulders, and receiving differences with grace. Affirming that “new wine needs new wineskins,” the gathering encouraged adapting methods while guarding core values and viewing change as opportunity.
The meeting concluded with corporate prayer, interceding for trust, communication, and succession across generations. United in love and humility, tradition and innovation can advance together, and the mission’s flame will be carried on.
