A Growing Witness of God’s Love in the Community

The power of partnering with God to reach our neighbors beyond the church walls.
This past Christmas season, Calvary Assembly of God had the privilege of hosting our fourth annual Christmas Carnival (December 6, 2025), a meaningful milestone that reflects not only growth in scale, but growth in God’s favor and faithfulness over the years.

What began as a community initiative with one resident committee, by God’s grace, has grown year by year. This year marked a significant step forward as, for the first time, we hosted residents from the entire Bedok and Siglap division. We welcomed more than 1,000 residents, who came together to enjoy carnival games, lively performances, and a blessing draw — all set within an atmosphere of joy, warmth, and festive celebration.
This year also marked a greater level of involvement from the community itself. Residents and community partners stepped forward to contribute in meaningful ways, setting up craft booths, preparing snacks, and even taking part in performances. The carnival felt more collaborative than ever before, reflecting a growing sense of shared ownership and partnership between the church and the community we serve.

A key highlight of this year’s carnival was our collaboration with Eternal Life Assembly, whose team partnered with us to present a skit that depicted the meaning of Christmas through a localized and relatable lens. The performance helped audiences rediscover the Christmas story in fresh ways, connecting the timeless message of Christ’s birth with everyday experiences familiar to the community. In doing so, it also breathed new life into well-loved Christmas carols, helping both young and old engage afresh with their meaning and significance.
Behind the scenes, this event was made possible by the wholehearted involvement of our church family. Church members turned up in full force, contributing time, creativity, and energy in every aspect of preparation — from designing and building carnival games, decorating the community club, to thoughtfully planning and presenting performances. It was deeply encouraging to witness the body of Christ serving together with unity and joy, each person playing their part for a greater purpose.

Beyond the numbers and activities, the heart of the Christmas Carnival has always been about presence and relationship. In an election year marked by leadership transition within the constituency, we are grateful for the opportunity to begin rebuilding and strengthening relationships within the community, especially with the appointment of a new Member of Parliament. As a church, we remain committed to communicating a clear and consistent message: we are here to serve, to bless, and to walk alongside the community.
As we reflect on this year’s carnival, we give thanks to God for His continued favor, the faithfulness of His people, and the doors He has opened for us to be a tangible expression of Christ’s love. We look forward with faith and expectation to how God will continue to use His Church to be a blessing beyond its walls.
