ACTS College Family Day 2024

By Jeremy Wee, ACTS College

A time to strengthen our friendship and experience the ACTS College family spirit.

The recent ACTS College Family Day was held on March 9, 2024. The event proved to be memorable, filled with camaraderie, laughter, and shared experiences. Due to the persistent rain in the days leading up to the event, we were initially nervous about having a picnic on the College rooftop. However, the Lord blessed us with perfect weather, and we thank God for the sunny sky and cool breezes that morning.

The heartwarming essence of the day was apparent from the outset as students and faculty came together to eat and share in the joy of fellowship. The potluck-style meal showcased the diverse culinary talents within our college community and the ability of various ones to track down different gastronomic gems, offering a delectable spread that satisfied every palate. As we passed around and sampled different dishes, we were reminded of the interconnectedness that binds us as a college family. The experience was reminiscent of college in the older days when some students would take turns cooking for the rest of the class.

Together as a family

The day’s highlight was undoubtedly the array of games that brought out the competitive spirit in all of us. We were divided into teams and had to answer various questions related to the college. However, the questions would only be revealed upon completing game challenges at different stations. The first station, “Advanced Group Selfies, ” saw participants capturing hilarious group photos set to randomly drawn themes. It was not every day we got to see our faculty post as James Bond or as a Flamingo. The next station was “Chain Pictionary,” which challenged our artistic skills and fostered a sense of teamwork and much laughter. As theological students, it jokingly reminded us of the importance of proper interpretation of the author’s intentions. The last station, “Speed Quiz,” had us on our toes, racing against the clock to guess obscure topics with lightning speed.

A strong team spirit bringing us together

Each question revealed required teams to “embark” on a “scavenger hunt” like search, scouring the campus for clues and racing to be the first to uncover the answers. The sense of accomplishment upon solving each riddle was tangible, reinforcing the strong bonds that unite us as a college community.

As the day drew to a close, a sense of fulfilment and gratitude lingered in the air. Family Day provided us with a cherished opportunity to come together, celebrate our shared experiences, and forge lasting memories. As we bid farewell to another successful event, we carry with us the reminder that our college family is not just a community but a source of strength and support for every one of us.

What fun we had as a group
