Free Love Meals Community Project by Sembawang Assembly of God
By Catherine Lye, Sembawang Assembly of God
Volunteers from Sembawang Assembly of God and GEM New Start Centre distributed 200 Free Love Meals, sharing joy and building relationships with residents in Sembawang Crescent.
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was ill and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” – Matthew 25:35-36
“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”– Acts 20:35

On April 26, 2025, a group of passionate volunteers from Sembawang Assembly of God (Sembawang AG) and GEM New Start Centre (GEM NSC) came together to distribute another round of Free Love Meals (FLM) to serve the residents at Sembawang Crescent.
The purpose of our Free Love Meals Project is to establish long-term relationships with residents and to be a blessing to them through practical acts of love and kindness. This initiative reflects the heart of Jesus in caring for the hungry, the thirsty, and those in need within our community.
With 16 volunteers, we were able to reach out to the residents staying in Sembawang Crescent, distributing a total of 200 lunch boxes to the residents, providing them with a meal from our hearts. Many residents welcomed these lunch boxes with gratitude, and it was a joy to witness their smiles and hear their words of thanks.

Truly, as Acts 20:35 reminds us, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Through this community outreach project, we experienced firsthand the blessing and joy that comes from serving others, especially the weak and the needy among us.
Our volunteers reflected…
“When I serve food to the needy, I’m reminded that every act of kindness, no matter how small, carries a deeper purpose — a quiet way of sharing grace and love.” – Aveiro Ho
“I’m truly grateful to have been part of the food distribution team. Words cannot fully describe the joy and gratitude on people’s faces as they received the meals. It was also a meaningful experience for my children, giving them a chance to serve others and show their love and care for the community. Sharing food is sharing love — together with my children, we plant seeds of kindness and hope in every meal we give.”– Rachael Koh

We thank God for this precious opportunity to partner with one another in serving our community, reflecting His love in practical ways. We also thank all volunteers who gave their time and effort to make this outreach a success.
We believe that as we continue to refresh others, we ourselves will also be refreshed, just as it is written: “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” – Proverbs 11:25 NIV
We look forward to many more opportunities to bless our community and to shine forth the glory of God in the northern region of Singapore.
