God’s Help in my Career Switch

2020 was a year of uncertainty. Before the pandemic struck, I had been working as a full-time commission Event and Roadshow Sales Leader for four years. Everything was going and doing well.

The Dark Storm

When the Circuit Breaker kicked in in early April 2020, the government announced that all non-essential companies were to work from home. That hit the industry that I was in really hard. I couldn’t have face-to-face consultation with my clients before they personally register online. I was also not allowed to sign up on behalf of a client. During that time, it seemed like the colorful sky suddenly turned into a dark stormy sky for me with no other source of income. This got worse when the Circuit Breaker went on for months.

My Focus

At that point everyone was staying at home learning and doing new things. I used the time to reflect on the poverty that my mother had gone through in her days. I saw how God delivered provisions for my mom because of her faith in God. She went home to our Father in heaven in 2011 but her faithful example still stays with us. This brought my attention and focus back to our Lord Jesus Christ who is my strength and my shield. My heart trusted in Him, and took delight in the Lord, believing that He would give us the desires of our heart.

My Prayer

Thanks be to Jesus! He blessed our government with wisdom to provide an extensive financial support schemes for all who were affected by the pandemic so that they could pull through the crisis. I believe everyone was blessed with the support.

I cried out to the Lord in prayer. I remember this was what I had prayed, “Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the faithful provision you had given to me in the past, now and the future. Now my career is affected by this pandemic and I know that you have a plan. What should I do now? I want to seek your kingdom first and I don’t want to make a wrong decision. I want to obey you. Let me see and hear your voice for the plans you have for me. I want to seek your kingdom and your righteousness. Lead me to your plan. In Jesus’ Almighty Name I pray. Amen.”

God Answered My Prayer

A day or two later I received three unusual calls asking how I was and if I had any difficulties in my career. The first call was from my reservist CO; the second call was from a friend; and the third was from my pastor, all on the same day. My pastor introduced me to a job and ministry that enabled me to serve God’s people in the time of mourning.

I thank God for listening to my prayer. He gave me these three rare callers to affirm me! In faith I sent my resume to The Resting Place, a Christian bereavement company. I continued to seek God. After two to three months, in September 2020 I was employed! I am right now happily working at The Resting Place.

Always remember in our hearts that Jesus loves us and meet us in any storms we are facing, He is there with us. We should not be afraid but have unshaken faith that Jesus has authority over Heaven and Earth, and He will reward those who earnestly seek Him.
