It was a privilege of having celebrity actress Felicia Chin share her life story with us on the day (Good Friday, April 7, 2023) when our faith remembers the death of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Felicia recalled her first encounter with God when she went through a period when her mind was fraught with many questions of fearful thoughts, including, “Will the spotlight fall on me during my act?” and “Will my fellow actor forget his line?”
Talking to God
Her fears brought her to a point when she started to wonder if there was a God above and if He would be listening to her lament. It happened when she was in the restroom when she started to “talk” to God (she was not a Christian yet at that time) and asked Him to remove those thoughts that were clouding her mind. It was after she left the bathroom to return to her work that she realized that her mind became clear and those thoughts did not return.
Salvation and Emotional Restoration
Following that restroom encounter, Felicia shared about how God began to lead her to the saving knowledge of Christ, and how her mother eventually came to know Christ too.
One powerful aspect of God’s breakthrough in Felicia’s life came from her personal journey of emotional restoration. She recounted how her upbringing in a fragmented family led to her believing that a complete family was not possible. God allowed her subconscious belief of this matter to surface during a surreal episode of her looking at the lights of a high-rise apartment and imagining its warmth from within. It was only then that she realized that this was an area of deep-seated brokenness that needed mending from God, and today, she is walking in that freedom of knowing that she too, can experience warmth in her family.
Abundant Life in Christ
Author and pastor Bill Johnson puts it aptly, “God is good, He is better than you think”. Felicia’s life journey is one that speaks of God’s goodness in not just saving us, but also giving us the life of abundance that He promised. Abundant life begins the moment we receive Christ, and He loves to restore our brokenness so that we can step into His place of abundance.
