As we gathered on January 4, 2024, for the first 2TIP of the year, that was the clarion call for us as ministers in our Assemblies of God family.
We have been given a mission and mandate to move towards having one million churches by 2033. And we can do that this year by bracing ourselves for kingdom impact in 2024.
Reflecting on John 4:34-38, the dialogue between Jesus and the Samaritan Woman, Rev Dominic Yeo shared three things we are to brace for.
The first is to brace ourselves for kingdom mission. MM33 isn’t just a mission of the Assemblies of God. It’s part of God’s larger mission to establish His kingdom. God’s mission isn’t just our starting point, it is our end point. We start being compelled by His mission and long to see His mission be accomplished. This is a long work, so we need to pray for the spiritual stamina to persevere and push through. We need to brace ourselves for kingdom mission.
The second brace is for the harvest. The time is now, and the white ripened fields are pointing us in that direction. If we don’t brace ourselves by seizing this opportunity, we will miss it. In fact, we can lose the harvest if we miss it. Rev Dominic cited his own personal regret of not sharing about Jesus to a Chinchilla shop owner. And was shocked one day when he found him praying to another god. Such is the importance of seizing God’s timing. We need to be conscious of any obstacles that may hinder us from seizing it.
Thirdly, we need to brace for the Trajectory of Heaven. We need to see ourselves as part of a larger kingdom economy and work together with other people, other organizations, and churches. But to have good and effective partnership, we need to be clear of God’s own unique calling for us in our churches. Our strengths and giftings are so that we’re able to contribute to the larger body. And to better find partners who can help us in our weaker areas. What for? So that God mission and mandate can be fulfilled.
In response to the call, we then spent time praying for ourselves as ministers for a fresh anointing, a fresh vision and capacity for 2024.
We also prayed for a renewal in our churches, for the birthing of new church plants and an atmosphere of prayer and worship with signs and wonders.
Let’s brace ourselves for impact in 2024, let’s continue to pray and ask the Lord to give us the anointing, vision and capacity so that His Mission and Mandate will take 1 further step towards fulfillment in 2024!
