Malayalam Language Fellowship – Friendship Day

By Dennis Jacob, Emmanuel Assembly of God

John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

We are a family, bound together by love and a shared faith in Christ. In this home, there is a place for everyone, regardless of background or circumstance. On February 10, amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, Malayalam Language Fellowship of Emmanuel Assembly of God, had the privilege of hosting a special event – “Friendship Day” for migrant workers. It was a day that resonated with warmth, camaraderie, and genuine connection as 12 enthusiastic participants joined us for an unforgettable experience.

Friendships forged

The core essence of the event was simple yet profound: to cultivate a sense of belonging and friendship among migrant workers within our community. Recognizing the challenges and obstacles they often face, we aimed to create a space where they could feel valued, appreciated, and embraced.

As the day unfolded, it became evident that we had achieved our goal. Laughter echoed through the air as participants engaged in a variety of activities designed to foster bonds and create lasting memories. From team-building games to heartfelt conversations, every moment was infused with a spirit of unity and understanding.

Playing games to bond

One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity for participants to share their stories and experiences. Each narrative served as a reminder of the resilience, strength, and diversity within the migrant community. From tales of triumph over adversity to dreams of a brighter future, every story was met with empathy and support.

Moreover, the sense of gratitude expressed by the participants was truly humbling. Many conveyed their appreciation for the chance to connect with others in a meaningful way, emphasizing the importance of friendship in their lives. For some, it was a rare opportunity to step away from the pressures of work and immerse themselves in moments of joy and companionship.

Sharing from our hearts

As the day drew to a close, there was a tangible sense of joy and fulfillment in the air. Participants exchanged contact information, promising to stay in touch and continue nurturing the relationships that had begun to blossom. For us, it was a testament to the beauty of diversity and the richness that comes from embracing individuals from all walks of life in the love of Christ.

Looking back, “Friendship Day” transcended mere event status; it epitomized a celebration of the human spirit and the expression of Christ’s love in every individual’s life. It served as a powerful testament to the truth that, despite our diverse backgrounds or life circumstances, we are united by the enduring bonds of friendship and compassion, mirroring the love our Lord has shown us.

As we reflect on the success of the event, we are filled with gratitude for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of migrant workers within our community. Moving forward, we remain committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity, understanding, and friendship, and to plan for more such events in the future.
