On April 4, 2024, our ministers gathered for our Togetherness in Training and Prayer session to worship, receive a timely word and fellowship.
In one accord, we lifted our voices and allowed the Spirit to minister to us in this precious worship time. The presence of God filled not just our hearts but the entire room. Our hearts were ready to receive the word of encouragement from our guest speaker, Rev Lawrence Koo.
Rev Lawrence Koo encouraged the ministers by sharing on “Pressing On in Ministry”, from his 46 years of pastoral experience as well as from Philippians 3:12-14.
Never Look Back
Because Christ is always present and always at work in our lives, let us caution against complacency and bragging about what is in past.
It is imperative that we are careful not to play the blame game of blame ourselves and others.
Let us recognize our mistakes and turn to Christ for our validation, as well as release forgiveness to others.
Keep Straining Forward
Straining involves exertion, against the devil, the principalities at work in our world and ourselves. Let us watch and pray and stand firm in the strength of God’s might. Vigilant to the fact that the devil stands in opposition to God. Aware to the wiles of modernity that rejects God and His truth in the world. Conscious of our fallibility, we strain toward Christ because ministry is about engaging the world with Christ.
Keep Looking Up
Ministry is a high calling; it is tough and we need God’s strength to persevere. What makes our calling significant is knowing who it is that does the calling. This gives us the assurance that He is present in the midst of our challenges in ministry, and it is He who strengthens us to persevere in His call of us.
Next, Rev Terence Ong led our ministers to pray in response to Rev Lawrence’s word shared: for one another to be strengthened towards faithfulness as ministers; prayers for ministers who are sick and alone; revival of churches in the coming Fresh Fire Conference. These prayers further sealed the word into our hearts.
Lastly, Ps Samuel Gift Stephen took over to lead in prayer for the Fresh Fire Conference: registration, speakers, messages shared to be relevant to everyone who attends.
