Jan 2TiP: Together as AG, Together in AG

By Ps Euvin Aw, Eternal Life Assembly

Assemblies of God Singapore ministers gathered for 2TiP to rediscover the power of “Walking Together,” experiencing how unity in worship, fellowship, and prayer reignites their hearts for one another.

On January 22, 2026, Assemblies of God Singapore ministers gathered for Togetherness in Training and in Prayer (2TiP). What unfolded was more than a meeting; it was family. Pastors walked together, worshiped together, and prayed together, with the theme of Together resonating through every segment of this 2TiP.

Worship and Prophetic Word

Rev Gary Chia and Rev Daphne Lau led us into worship, drawing our hearts to Christ as the One we desire. We were reminded that while we carry victories and struggles from the past year, worship is the place where we lay them down before the Lord. The atmosphere was filled with reverence and freedom as ministers prayed loudly in tongues, lifting their voices in unison. In that moment, Rev Charles Tan shared a prophetic word: “God is with us as we remain together.” This assurance set the tone for the rest of the gathering, preparing our hearts to receive the exhortation.

Rev Simon Ang, Assistant General Superintendent delivering the Word

Walking Together — Exhortation by Rev Simon Ang

With Rev Dominic Yeo, our General Superintendent, unwell, Rev Simon Ang, our Assistant General Superintendent, stepped forward to bring the exhortation. His message, titled Walking Together, was anchored in Luke 24:13–35, the story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus.

Rev Simon reminded us that the greatest challenge for pastors and ministers is not simply preaching or leading, but walking together. Ministry is a long journey, and when we walk long enough with people, we begin to see flaws, weaknesses, and gaps. Disappointments can creep in, and relationships may become jaded. Yet the Emmaus story shows us how Christ Himself teaches us to keep walking together.

He highlighted three lessons from the passage:

  1. Walking with Broken Expectation
The two disciples were walking away from Jerusalem, the place of mission, toward Emmaus, a place of comfort. They were disappointed and ready to withdraw. But Jesus did not wait for them to return; He drew near to them on the road. In ministry, we too may face broken expectations — unmet hopes, unanswered prayers, or discouragements. Sometimes we may even feel tempted to retreat into comfort rather than continue in mission. Yet Jesus journeys with us even in those moments. His presence assures us that we are not alone. Rev Simon urged us to remember that in our busyness, we must make time for one another, to walk together even when expectations are broken.
  2. Open Eyes and Burning Hearts
As Jesus opened the Scriptures, He did not rebuke the disciples for their lack of faith. Instead, He reignited the flame in their hearts. Their disappointment did not disqualify them from encountering Him. Rev Simon highlighted that the disciples extended hospitality, inviting Jesus to stay with them. It was in that simple act of fellowship, over a meal, that their eyes were opened. Sometimes ministry is not about grand gestures, but about small acts of care and presence. A meal, a conversation, a moment of hospitality can become the place where someone encounters the Lord afresh. That is why 2TiP always ends with a lunch: because fellowship opens the door for revelation, and our hearts are reignited when we share life together.
  3. From Journey to Testimony
Once their eyes were opened, the disciples did not remain in Emmaus. They immediately returned to Jerusalem to testify. Rev Simon emphasized that we too are called to be witnesses. We are not perfect people, but we are people who have experienced Christ. Our testimony flows out of our encounter with Him. We cannot go until we have been ministered to, until our eyes are opened and our hearts burn within us. Only then can we truly be His witnesses, strengthening the body and advancing the Gospel.

Summary: Rev Simon reminded us that walking together is not easy, but it is essential. We will face broken expectations, but Jesus draws near. We will need our eyes opened and hearts reignited, often through simple acts of fellowship. And we must move from personal encounter to testimony, because our witness strengthens the body and proclaims Christ to the world. Walking together means journeying with Christ, with one another, and into mission. His words echoed the prophetic reminder we had just received: “God is with us as we remain together.”

Bless, Care and Share together as a family

Prayer Led by Rev Dr Chia Beng Hock

Rev Dr Chia Beng Hock, our Executive Director, then led us into prayer, framed by Psalm 133:1 “How good and pleasant it is when brethren dwell in unity.” This verse set the tone for the prayer session, which unfolded in three meaningful areas:

  • Bless: We prayed prayers of blessing over one another, strengthening bonds of unity and encouragement.
  • Care: We interceded for ministers in need, including Rev Dominic, Rev Ace, Rev Esther, Rev Emily, and Rev Oh.
  • Share: We encouraged one another by sharing testimonies of what God had already done in 2025, celebrating His faithfulness together.

The prayer session ended with a united cry for a ‘Fresh Visitation of Pentecost’, as we proclaimed our common vision from Acts 1:8: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…”

Conclusion

This 2TiP was more than a meeting; it was a reminder of who we are as an Assemblies of God family. In worship, in the Word, and in prayer, we experienced Christ’s presence together and heard His assurance that God is with us as we remain together.
