Pursuing the Promise, Pursuing the Purpose

Assemblies of God Singapore General Council Meeting and Annual General Meeting 2026.
On May 15, 2026, ministers and leaders of the Assemblies of God Singapore gathered not merely for annual proceedings, but for prophetic realignment around the Spirit, the Church, and the mission of God. Flowing from last year’s call to “go to the other side,” this year’s meetings became a renewed summons to pursue the Promise, the Person of the Spirit, the Power of the Spirit, and our Purpose.

Pursuing the Promise
Opening from Acts 1:1–11, General Superintendent Rev Dominic Yeo reminded the Fellowship that the Church is not called merely to “look into the sky,” but to become Christ’s witnesses to the nations. Anchoring the message to the global MM33 vision of one million Spirit-filled churches by 2033, Rev Dominic called Singapore AG to embrace afresh its Pentecostal identity and apostolic responsibility. “We cannot fulfil MM33 in our own ability,” he declared. “We need the ability of the Spirit.”
Rev Dominic challenged ministers to pursue not only the Promise of the Holy Spirit, but the Person of the Spirit Himself, learning again to be led, instructed, and empowered by Him. The Church, he emphasised, must not settle for form without power, but recover its dependence on the Spirit for witness, breakthrough, and mission.

Pursuing the Purpose
One of the clearest reflections of this pursuit was seen in the significant increase and diversity among those receiving credentials this year. The Exhorter cohort reflected the widening participation of the whole Church in ministry, with children’s ministry leaders, worship leaders, youth workers, educators, pastoral assistants, deaconesses, executive pastors, and marketplace-serving lay leaders stepping forward from churches including Grace Assembly of God and Trinity Christian Centre, among other churches across the Fellowship.
The Licensed Ministers represented another strengthening of the Fellowship, as pastors, chaplains, educators, worship pastors, mission leaders, youth pastors, and senior pastors were publicly affirmed for expanded ministry leadership and accountability. Five ministers were also recognised for ordination: Rev John Lin Weiliang, Rev Jay Ong, Rev Derek Foo, Rev Peter Lim, and Rev Samuel Gift, reflecting lives proven in ministry and entrusted with greater shepherding responsibility within the Body of Christ.

Pursuing Faithfulness Across Generations
Rev Dominic Yeo also honoured the late Rev Dr Chia Beng Hock as a minister deeply sensitive to the Holy Spirit, steadfast in purpose, and faithful to the Assemblies of God Fellowship through the years, encouraging ministers present to likewise keep pursuing God’s purpose with faithfulness and Spirit-led conviction.
This year, we honored Rev Charles Tan and Rev Pang Yan Leng with Life Membership recognition after more than forty years of faithful ordained ministry, while Eagle’s Nest Church and New Hope Assembly of God were welcomed as new Associate Corporate Members into the Fellowship.

Pursuing the Nations
As ministers closed in worship and prayer, one conviction remained unmistakable: the Assemblies of God Singapore is not entering a season of maintenance, but movement. Pentecost continues to call the Church beyond comfort and preservation toward the nations, the next generation, and the advancing purpose of God.
