Harborlight Church’s biennial camp, “Even Greater,” brought members together for four powerful days of divine encounters, intergenerational fellowship, and renewed faith.
Harborlight Church held our biennial church camp, “Even Greater,” from June 15–18, 2026, at Le Meridien Hotel, Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur. As a church, we set aside four days to seek God together. It was a week marked by powerful encounters with God and intentional community.
Camp Theme
Building upon Harborlight’s 2025 theme, “Greater Things,” the church sensed God leading us into an even deeper season. The theme “Even Greater” reflects our desire not simply to do more, but to become more of who God has called us to be — to love God wholeheartedly, love people more intentionally, and grow in greater discipleship as a church.
We were blessed by the ministry of Ps Benjamin Yeoh from Agape Community Church, Seremban. Through his preaching, the church was challenged to move beyond past experiences and step forward in faith, believing that God has even greater things in store for His people.
The camp opened with a timely message, “Learn from the Past, Lean into the Future.” It reminded us that while we should never ignore our past, neither should we remain bound by it. Instead, God invites us to allow every season, even painful ones, to shape our faith and prepare us for the even greater things God has ahead for us.
As the sessions unfolded, we were continually drawn back to God’s heart for His people. It was a week filled with God-moments. Many encountered God’s presence in personal and fresh ways, receiving encouragement, breakthrough, and a renewed vision for the season ahead. One of our younger campers, 18-year-old Ariel, said, “I was overcome by such an overwhelming and unexpected overflow of His goodness and faithfulness in the unfolding of His plans for me.“
An unforgettable moment came on the second night when a power outage affected the hotel for several hours. Although it could have disrupted the evening, God’s peace rested upon the congregation. It was truly a miracle that in the midst of the black out, our service venue had remained unaffected, allowing the night service to continue uninterrupted. As we evacuated our members down flights of stairs into the service hall, we knew beyond a shadow of doubt that God was with us. As we worshiped that night, the spiritual atmosphere rose to the next level. What could have been an obstacle turned into a testimony of God’s faithfulness; it became a pivotal point that changed the trajectory of the camp, deepening our confidence that God is with us and nothing could stop what Him and what He has in store for us.
The final session, “Hearing God’s Voice Through Spiritual Journaling,” was taught by Ps Estee on practical ways to cultivate intimacy with God. Through Scripture, reflection, and journaling, we were reminded that hearing God’s voice begins with intentionally making space to be with Him. She rounded off camp by encouraging us to carve out time to spend with God, just like Mary had done in Luke 10. “Time spent with God has a higher priority than time doing ministry,” said Ps Estee, admonishing us to keep seeking the Lord even as we break camp and go back to our busy lives.
Community Time
Church camp is not only about encountering God during the services; it is also about building Kingdom friendships! Throughout the week, the camp committee curated activities such as pickleball and batik art jamming, giving everyone opportunities to connect beyond their usual circles.
One of Harborlight’s cherished practices is Connect Time, where we intentionally gather in small groups before every service to check in with each other and build meaningful relationships. Even at camp, this remained an important rhythm, reminding us that church is more than attending services—it’s doing life together. For Belinda, who has attended many Harborlight church camps, one of the highlights this year was the meaningful connections she made across generations. She said, “A memorable moment was a meaningful conversation with a young adult during supper time.“
Our most highly anticipated event at each church camp is our Finale Night, and this year’s theme, “Retroristic,” certainly did not disappoint. Campers came dressed in retro, futuristic, or a combination of both. The youth ministry arrived as green-masked aliens who danced to Michael Jackson, while different Connect Groups brought iconic characters from Back to the Future, Phua Chu Kang, and Aunty Rosie to life. Our Harborlight staff and pastoral team delighted everyone by dressing up as the Beatles, complete with their signature bowl-cut wigs. It was an evening filled with laughter and joyful fellowship!
Intergenerational Church
One of the greatest blessings of Even Greater was witnessing the beauty of an intergenerational church. Throughout the camp, children worshipped alongside adults, youths prayed with seniors, and members of all ages shared meals, stories and life together.
More than simply gathering for services, the camp reflected Harborlight’s heart to be a church family where every generation is valued and empowered to grow together. Barriers were broken down as conversations flowed naturally across age groups, reminding us that discipleship happens through authentic relationships.
As the camp came to an end, we carried home more than memories. We left refreshed by God’s presence, strengthened through authentic community, and encouraged by what He is doing across every generation. As Harborlight continues to Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples, we move forward believing that God has even greater in store for us, and that the best is yet to come.
