A Significant Milestone in Water Baptism

By Ps Ann Ang, Sembawang Assembly of God

Sembawang Assembly of God celebrated a historic milestone as 24 individuals declared their faith through water baptism, marking the church’s highest number of salvations in a single baptism service in 25 years.

Our hearts are filled with joy as we praise God.

Christmas Day 2025 was a significant and joy-filled moment for us at Sembawang Assembly of God. On this meaningful day, 24 individuals publicly declared their faith in Jesus Christ through water baptism, sharing powerful testimonies of grace, repentance, and new beginnings in Christ.

We stand in unity with our members.

Our church is deeply honored and thankful for how God has led us in reaching out to these 24 individuals, marking the highest number of salvations in a single baptism service in the past 25 years of our church’s history. Among those baptized were the mothers of our Senior Pastor, Rev Anthony Chua, and our Youth and Young Adults Pastor, Ps Angeline Tan, both long prayed for with faith and perseverance. Their baptisms were especially poignant, bearing witness to years of faithful intercession and reminding us that no heart is beyond God’s reach, and no prayer offered in faith is ever wasted.

All ready to step out in faith for the Lord.

The service began with joyful praise as the congregation worshiped together to songs such as “This Is the Day” and “Goodness of God.” The atmosphere was intentionally warm and welcoming, especially as many family members and friends present were attending church for the first time. Our Senior Pastor then shared on the meaning of water baptism, taking time to explain its significance clearly and simply so that all could understand why this step mattered.

Praying to encourage our candidates.

Each baptism candidate then shared their personal testimony. While their stories were all different, ranging from healing and renewed purpose to emotional restoration and wisdom during difficult seasons, they pointed to the same truth. God had met them personally and faithfully where they were.

Joining our faith together.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the congregation and baptism candidates made their way to the swimming pool for the baptism ceremony. Anticipation was high, and the joy in the air was unmistakable as each individual was baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Giving God the glory!

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of baptism certificates to each candidate, followed by a sumptuous Christmas buffet where candidates, families, and guests gathered for a meaningful time of fellowship. While the service marked a significant milestone for all 24 individuals, we recognize that baptism is the beginning of a lifelong journey of discipleship that we are committed to walking together with them as a church.

Full of smiles as we share our testimonies!

We thank God for His saving grace and faithfulness, rejoicing over every life transformed and every step of obedience taken. As a church, we remain committed to discipling and walking alongside these new believers, trusting the Holy Spirit to continue His work as they grow in faith and live out their calling in Christ.
